Glass Worlds privacy notice
What personal data we hold when you join the waitlist, buy a world or download it, why, for how long, and your rights.
In short
- We hold only what we need: your email if you join the waitlist, and a small purchase record so you can re-download what you bought.
- Card details go to Stripe and Onelink, never to us.
- We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't use advertising trackers.
- Google Analytics runs only if you click Accept in the cookie banner.
1. Who we are
The controller for the data in this notice is Launchpad Technology Ltd, company number 17071004, registered office 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX. Contact us about privacy at contactus@launchpadtechnology.co.uk or 0330 133 4432.
2. What this covers
The Glass Worlds web pages, the waitlist, buying and downloading worlds, licence emails, and support. Launchpad Technology's general privacy policy covers our other services.
3. The waitlist
| What we keep | Your email address; which worlds you ticked; which page you signed up on; the date and time; which version of the consent wording you agreed to, with a fingerprint (hash) of its exact text; and a "day key". |
|---|---|
| The day key | A one-way code made from the date and your IP address with a secret key. It lets us stop spam (at most 5 sign-ups per connection per hour) without storing your IP address. We can't turn it back into your IP address. |
| Why | To email you when the worlds you ticked go on sale, plus occasional Glass Worlds news. |
| Lawful basis | Your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), given by ticking the box. Withdraw it at any time. |
| Where | A file on our web host's server, outside the public part of the website. |
| How long | Until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you, or 24 months after you joined if we haven't emailed you in that time, whichever comes first. |
| Unsubscribe | One click in any email we send, or email us. |
Joining the waitlist doesn't send you anything automatically.
4. Buying a world
Payments are taken by Stripe through its merchant-of-record service, Onelink. When you pay, Stripe and Onelink collect your name, email, payment details and billing country or address, to take the payment, prevent fraud, work out sales tax and send your receipt. They decide how that data is used, as independent controllers under their own privacy policies (see stripe.com/gb/privacy). Your card details never reach us.
From Stripe we receive the checkout reference, whether payment succeeded, what you bought and the email address on the order. We keep:
- your licence code, the checkout reference and what you bought;
- a one-way hash of your email address, so we can find your code if you lose it;
- a record that you ticked the immediate-download consent box: when, and which wording. This record holds no personal data on its own;
- whether the purchase was refunded and the licence cancelled.
We use your email address once, to send your licence email (your code, download link and the consent confirmation the law requires). We don't add buyers to the waitlist or send marketing unless you've separately agreed to it.
Lawful basis: to perform our contract with you (Article 6(1)(b)), and to meet legal duties such as consumer-law confirmations and accounting records (Article 6(1)(c)).
How long: for as long as your licence is active, so you can download again, and then for up to 6 years for accounting and legal records.
5. Downloads and support
- Downloads. Download links are signed and expire after 24 hours. We count downloads per licence code to spot a code that has been shared publicly.
- Server logs. Like any website, our web host records requests (IP address, time, page or file, browser type) for security and to keep the site running. These logs are kept for a limited period and not used to profile you.
- Support. If you email or call us, we keep the conversation so we can help you, for up to 2 years after it ends, or longer if it relates to a refund or complaint we must keep a record of.
6. The world file on your device
The world you download runs on your device and works offline. It makes no network requests and sends nothing to us or to anyone else. It contains your licence code. It may save small settings (for example which tips you've already seen) and, for worlds that keep going between visits, the state of your world, in your browser's local storage on your device only. Clearing your browser data removes them.
If you use a third-party wallpaper app (Plash or Lively Wallpaper) to show a world, that app's own privacy policy applies to it.
7. This website, cookies and fonts
- Cookie banner. Our pages ask before setting any analytics cookies. Google Analytics 4 loads only if you click Accept; if you reject or ignore the banner, no analytics request is made. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage for 12 months. You can change it with "Cookie settings" at the foot of any page.
- Fonts. Our web pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and Google receives your IP address.
- The free demo stores its files in your browser so it works offline. That storage is strictly necessary for the demo to work and contains no personal data.
- We don't use advertising pixels, fingerprinting or cross-site tracking.
8. Who we share data with
We never sell or rent your data. We share it only with:
- Stripe and Onelink: payments, tax, receipts and payment support (independent controllers);
- DreamHost: our web host, which stores the waitlist and purchase records (processor);
- our email provider: sends the licence email and support replies (processor);
- Google: fonts on our web pages, and analytics only if you accept;
- our accountants, and authorities where the law requires it.
Some of these providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or addendum, or UK adequacy regulations.
9. Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or move it to another service, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Email contactus@launchpadtechnology.co.uk; we reply within one month. Some records (such as accounting records for a purchase) we must keep even if you ask us to delete them; if so, we'll explain.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
10. Children
Glass Worlds is suitable for all ages, but the waitlist and purchases are for adults. If you're under 13, please ask a parent or carer to join the waitlist or buy for you.
11. Changes
We'll update this notice when what we do changes (for example when Glass Worlds for Mac ships, or when we choose an email service for the waitlist) and change the date at the top.
